Cyprus may be a
small country, but it’s a large island – the largest in the
Mediterranean. And its an island with a big heart, an island that
gives its visitors a genuine welcome and treats them as friends.
Whilst the coast has plenty of sandy beaches, there is much inland
to attract the visitor – from the thickly forested Troodos
mountains, heady with the scent of pines and remote Byzantine
churches to the rich, redsoiled farmland of Ayia Napa and the
citrus groves and vineyards near Limassol. |

Limassol
On the south of the island is this cosmopolitan town and resort.
Only the capital, Nicosia is bigger. Further round the coast to
the south is the great archaeological site of Curium, with remains
of both, a greek settlement and a Roman amphitheatre which is so
well-preserved, that it is still used for performances today. |
|
Paphos
‘Playground of the Gods’. Capital of the west and positively
teeming with history is Paphos, site of the Island’s second
international airport. The resort town has as its focal point, a
charming fishing harbour by Paphos Fort, lined with open-air cafes
and tavernas that serve a tempting menu of the day’s catch. |
