Day 1
Los Angeles at Leisure - On arrival please take the
complimentary hotel shuttle to the hotel where you meet your
Tour Director this afternoon.
Day 2
Los Angeles - Yosemite National Park - Our orientation tour
of Los Angeles shows us Beverly Hills and Hollywood. We then
travel to Yosemite National Park to see Yosemite Falls
(seasonal), El Capitan and Half Dome. Tonight, join your
fellow travellers for a Welcome Drink.
Day 3
Yosemite National Park - San Francisco - This morning, relax
in the tranquil surroundings of Yosemite, before we depart
westward to San Francisco.
Day 4
San Francisco Sightseeing - Our tour of San Francisco
includes the Godlen Gate Bridge, Union Square and
Fisherman's Wharf. We then enjoy views of Twin Peaks
viewpoint. Later, we cruise across the Bay to Alcatraz
Island for a narrated walking tour of the infamous former
Federal prison.
Day 5
San Francsico - Eureka - Today we head over the Golden Gate
Bridge to the ancient redwood forests. This afternoon we
view the towering trees at the 'Avenue of the Giants', then
it's on to our hotel in Eureka.
Day 6
Eureka - Clackamas - This morning we travel along the coast
and see more of the ancient redwood trees as we turn inland.
Enjoy scenic views before arriving into the Greater Portland
area.
Day 7
Clackamas - Vancouver - Into the state of Washington to
Seattle, on the shores of Puget Sound. We enjoy a brief
orientation tour including views of the Space Needle and
Pike Street Market before continuing to Vancouver.
Day 8
Vancouver at Leisure - Today is at leisure, perhaps join an
optional day tour to Vancouver Island to visit Victoria and
Butchart Gardens?
Day 9
Vancouver - Sun Peaks - We begin with a sighsteeing tour of
Vancouver, including Gastown and Stanley Park. We drive
along the Fraser River Canyon to Hope, passing Kamloops on
our way to Sun Peaks.
Day 10
Sun Peaks - Jasper - This morning we travel north past the
Columbia Mountains, then along the Yellowhead Highway with
views of Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian
Rockies. We continue to Jasper National Park and our hotel.
Day 11
Jasper - Banff - Today we head along the Icefields Parkway.
We see the Athabasca Glacier, and stop for a ride on the
glacier itself in a special 'Snocoach'. Later, we stroll by
beautiful Lake Louise, before continuing on to Banff.
Day 12
Banff Sightseeing - This morning we enjoy a tour of Banff,
seeing Bow Falls and Tunnel Mountain. This afternoon is at
leisure, maybe take an optional river rafting trip on the
Bow River?
Day 13
Banff - Waterton Lakes National Park - This morning we pass
Calgary on our way south to Waterton Lakes National Park,
the hidden jewel of Canada's Rocky Mountain National Parks.
Day 14
Waterton Lakes National Park - Helena - We enter the 'Big
Sky' country today, crossing into the USA and Montana. We
follow the eastern slope of Glacier National Park, then make
our way across the great High Plains to Helena, Montana's
capital.
Day 15
Helena - West Yellowstone - This morning we travel through
Buttle to Yellowstone National Park. The world's first
national park is home to buffalo, elk and over a thousand
geysers, many of which present a spectacular appearance.
Day 16
Yellowstone National Park - Our tour of the National Park
today includes Yellowstone Lake, Hayden Meadow and
Yellowstone Falls. We also see the Grand Canyon of the
Yellowstone, as well as whimsical mudholes, and 'Old
Faithful', the most famous of the geysers.
Day 17
West Yellowstone - Salt Lake City - Travelling past the
rugged Grand Teton Mountain Range we stop in the western
town of Jackson before arriving in Salt Lake City in the
late afternoon.
Day 18
Salt Lake City - Bryce Canyon National Park - This morning
we enjoy a brief orientation tour of Salt Lake City before
visiting Bryce Canyon National Park. Its rocks have been
sculpted by erosion into unique pillar formations called
'hoodoos', towering as high as office buildings.
Day 19
Bryce Canyon - Grand Canyon - Today we drive through
southwest Utah on our way to Lake Powell where we stop at
Glen Canyon Dam. Then, we see the Grand Canyon, driving
along the panoramic South Rim with views of multi-hued
canyon walls (weather permitting).
Day 20
Grand Canyon - Las Vegas - We travel on parts of Route 66
and cross the Colorado River en route to Las Vegas. This
evening, perhaps join an optional tour to see the lights of
the 'Strip'.
Day 21
Las Vegas - Los Angeles Departure - We cross the Mojave
Desert on our way back to Los Angeles Airport where our tour
ends this afternoon. (Flights should not depart before
8.00pm). |
