Heart of the thousand–year Shilla
Kingdom, founded during the days when Caesar held sway over Rome,
this is a town where the ‘Land of Morning Calm’ continues to live
up to the true beauty of its name. Tucked away in quiet glens are
willow– swept ponds, grand temples, pagodas, and immense memorial
tombs of ancient monarchs. |

Pusan |
|
 |
|
As the largest seaport and southern
gateway to Korea, Pusan is the entry point for many travellers
coming in by way of Japan. The Pusan area claims a fair share of
popular sights. Nestled in a fragrant pine forest at the edge of
town is Pomo–sa, an impressive temple that dates back 1,300 years
to the dawn of the United Silla Kingdom. An hour outside the city
is Tangdo– sa, a rambling complex of grand halls and auxiliary
shrines. It is the largest and one of the most beautiful places of
Buddhist pilgrimage in the country. |
