More
information about the trip
Explore the forbidding terrain of the coldest desert in the world,
Ladakh. Ride your bike from Manali to Leh, across the highest pass
roads of the world, including three 5000 m passes. The famous 480
km long overland track from Manali to Ladakh opened for civilian
traffic only in 1989, a track that makes you forget the Karakorum,
Andes and the high Alpine passes. The trip will include biking the
route in both directions. En route, you master the 5328 m high
Taglang La pass, the second highest pass in the world, and the
5603 m high Khardung La, the highest motorable pass road in the
world.
It's pure adventure on the roof of the world…

Since the character of our Bike and Jeep Tours is similar to
expeditions, only the outer frame of the itinerary, that is, the
dates of arrival and departure, can be exactly fixed. Due to our
concept of touring with our own road and camp crew, we are almost
independent and largely flexible, prepared to manage unpredictable
storms, landslides and other natural calamities, which can force
us to change our itineraries often.
From Delhi, we travel overnight in a privately rented
luxury coach to the base camp at the beautiful village Nagar, near
Manali, at an altitude of almost 2000 meters. All expeditions and
adventure tours start at the ancient capital of the rulers of the
Kullu kingdom.
After a two-day 'warm-up session', we head to the
legendary Rohtang pass (3.980m), the beginning of the most extreme
'overland road' in Asia, then further to the majestic Zanskar
range and through the incredible Moore plain up into the Indus
Valley. In the old bazaar town of Leh, seat of the kings of Ladakh,
we will spend three nights at the heritage style hotel LA RI MO.
On the way we raise our tents under the breathtaking firmament of
the Central Himalaya range. On the itinerary is a drive down the
Indus Valley to the famous Lamayuru monastery, mastering the
exciting Fatu La pass, and a overnight stay in the restricted
villages of the ancient Aryan tribes. The ultimate experience is
the drive up the Khardung La pass, 5603m above sea level, the
world's highest motorable road. After completing our tour we spend
2 nights at the comfortable, ethnic styled "Benon Resort", in the
busy mountain bazaar town of Manali. Then we take time off to
relax and shop around. After our return journey to Delhi, either
by 17-seater Turboprop flight or overnight deluxe coach, we
explore India's fascinating capital, Delhi, including trips into
the old walled bazaar town, the mighty Red Fort and the
omnipresent colonial architecture of the former British rulers.
