the Aravali Hills, are the Dilwara Jain Temples exquisitely carved
in marble. |

DAY - 1 : ARRIVE MOUNT ABU
Your tour commences from the
time of your arrival at Udaipur railway station/airport or Abu
railway station from where you will be transferred to your hotel
in Mount Abu (230 kms. from Udaipur and 38 kms. from Abu road
railway station) for a two night stay. The rest of the day is free
to relax or walk around this small hill town or enjoy boating on
the Nakki Lake.
DAY - 2 : DILWARA TEMPLES
To avoid destruction, the
temples were cleverly hidden behind innocuous looking entrances.
Besides the pure white marble used for the construction, the
temples are famous for their intricate lacelike carvings rarely
seen elsewhere. Of the five temples - Vimal Vasahi, Lun Vasahi,
Shri Rishabdeo, Shri Parshvanath and Shri Mahavir Swami, the first
two are the most famous. Outside the main door of Vimal Vasahi Lun
Vasahi, there are two statues called Devrani’s and Jethani’s
goklas respectively. Another striking feature of the temple is the
marble dome in the porch, which is made up of a cluster of half
open lotuses, which appear to be almost transparent. The Vimal
Vasahi temple is older and is also known as the first Jain temple.
This morning you will visit the temple complex and perform aarti
and puja. Dilwara Temples are visited by scores of devotees
throughout the year. You will be free to visit the temple complex
as many times as you desire between 1200 to 1800 hrs (0700 to 1200
hrs reserved for Jains).
DAY - 3 : MOUNT ABU
A "must visit" is Ranakpur Jain
Temples (200 kms). Known for its 1114 intricately carved pillars,
not one resembles the other – architecturally a marvel. The
highest point in the Aravalis is the Guru Shikhar ( 15 Km- at
5,653 ft) and is marked by a cave temple where the holy ash,
solemnly collected by pilgrims, is said to materialize
miraculously.
DAY - 1 : DEPART MOUNT ABU
This morning you will be transferred to Bhavnagar airport or
railway station for your onward journey.
