Palitana is one of the most important pilgrim spots for Jains. The Shetrunjaya hill, Palitana is a town in a valley, a state founded by Shahji who was a Gohel Rajput. Situated around the sacred hill Shatrunjaya, from which the name of the river that runs through the town got its name, Palitana. It is an important pilgrimage for the followers of Jainism but equally important are the architecture of the temples and it’s elaborate carvings.

DAY - 1 : ARRIVE BHAVNAGAR
Your tour commences from the time of your arrival at Bhavnagar airport or the railway station from where you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Bhavnagar for a stay of two nights. The rest of the day is free for you to explore the city or visit the city of Alang (45 kms.) which has worlds largest ship breaking yard.

DAY - 2 : AGRA - MATHURA - VRINDAVAN - DELHI
Palitana is a “must visit” destination for Jains and all those who would like to witness what the subtle combination of human enterprise, architectural skills and channelized religious fervor can achieve. A prominent temple complex on a hill (600 meters over the town) with a stretch of as many as 863 temples dating from the 11th century embellished with intricate sculpture, jeweled idols and paintings. The mythological context that has made Palitana such an important pilgrimage spot is that lord Adinath is said to have visited the hill several times and his son founded the first temple.
Early this morning you will be transferred to Palitana (52 kms.) for a day excursion. All visitors are required to climb around 3,500 steps to reach the top of the hill for the main temple complex (you can even hire palanquin (doli) on direct payment basis) where you visit the impressive Jain temple city of Shatrunjaya. The important temples are Shri Adishwara Temple and the Chaumukh Temple.
At the conclusion of your darshan and after you have performed Abhishek (according to one’s wishes), you will return to Bhavnagar.

DAY - 3 : DEPART BHAVNAGAR
This morning you will be transferred to Bhavnagar airport or railway station for your onward journey.
 

Daily departures.
Special darshan is not available at Palitana.
Abhisheks are limited to timings and number of people at any one time.
Difficult for physically handicapped people, however palanquins are available.
