On this route are several villages among the richest in Ladakh. Arrive at Likir monastery from the National Highway, where the track to Likir monastery meets in between Saspol - Bazgo, it is hardly an hour walk from the road.

Likir - Yangtang ... 4 to 5 hours. Proceed to Likir village from the monastery and enter in an arid terrain, start ascending towards a small pass Pobe-la. Arrive at Sumdo Village, cross the river and leaving Sumdo on the right side. Continue in the valley for about an hour and finally reach at the summit of the Charatse-la. It is only half an hour to Yangtang from Charatse - la summit. If you have little more time and are interested in seeing a monastery then visit Rizong monastery, which is a two and a half hours trek.

Yangtang - Ang ...4 hours. Proceed to Wulle valley, which is only 15 minutes away, then ascent for 1 hour to Sermanchan - La and then descent towards Hemis Shukpachan - a big village. Here (Shuka) Cedar is found in plenty, hence the name of the village. There is a beautiful gompa. After crossing the village, there is flat land, then steep descents followed on the right side, climb a steep slope to the summit of the Meptekla. It is a 2 hours hike from Hemis - Shukpachan. Descent for half an hour and you are in Ang Village. Camp near the river. A path leads to north towards Shyok Valley.

Ang - Khalse ... 5 to 5 1/2 hours The next half an hour will take you to Tingsmogang village. It is richest valley in Ladakh. Apricots, apples, nuts are in plenty, houses are beautiful. A motorable road links Tingsmogang with Nurla. Next leave for Tea Village with beautiful Gompa's, path through fields and houses. Above Tea Village is a monastery - Katza. (A path leads to Shyok via Largiab-la from Tea). Climb Bongbong-la (about one hour from Tingsmogang). From here descending a long gentle slope, arrive at barren landscape then to the National Highway, and one hour to Khalse.
